A NEW KIND OF ARTIST

THE WEEKEND ARTIST.
The BYOB art class that includes a bit of paint, a couple of brushes, and a blank canvas.

{plus... ice buckets, bottle openers, and glasses that clink are provided for your painting pleasure!!}

Recently, my darling husband and I celebrated an anniversary.  It wasn't the silver nor was it the golden, according to tradition, but I consider all of our anniversaries "golden" because it is such a delight to reflect upon and remember our special day.   I loved my wedding day.

For a celebration in honor of our day, we decided to PAINT.  We were each given a blank canvas.  And one person painted the night scene while the other person painted the day scene.

We had such a blast.  We painted, and painted, and painted.
And then we created, and created, and created.

We decided to create our paintings with personal touches...
We hid little symbols within our art...
Symbols that represented our other half...
That only "we" would know about...
Like a little secret...
With a smiling heart!

this is the perfect memory for an anniversary!

art at home

I love children's art.
Probably because that is the only kind of art I can do.
I could totally pass my art off as my 3 year old's creation.
We would be rich!
We would be deceptors!  (Like that one man and his daughter... cannot recall the name... probably because I am extremely exhausted.  Or because I really don't pay attention to little trivial details.  Like names.)
Anyway, I love the art my children create.
Perhaps, because I wear the PARENT GOGGLES!
But, honestly, I despise the MESS.
So today we painted outside.
And then I hosed the girls off.  Well, one girl in particular.

Matroshka Dolls and Polka Dots are a few of our favorite things

nesting neuroses

Once upon a time, girl meets boy
boy falls in love and proclaims "the one"
so girl falls in love and claims "this is it"

Girl and Boy get married
Buy an old historic home to renovate
and test their "love" during demolition and restoration

Boy wonders where "his space" is placed

Girl informs said boy that he has "a drawer"

And luckily for said boy and small drawers,
said boy gets "two"
side by side
also known as:
The JUNK drawers

Occasionally, girl enters boy space and cleans out the JUNK

A+ for Recycling

ASSIGNMENT:  create something from the Recycle Box and the Junk Drawer.

The results:  a trash-talking-cat

The girls enjoyed minutes of entertainment on this drizzly, rainy day.

PS: the youngest drinks "hot chalky" every morning... regardless of the outdoor and indoor temperature.  Completely unaware that the thermostat registers 91 degrees at 8:45 am.

PPS: Trash Cat has become part of the family.  Trash Cat even took a trip to Target.  A stroll in the stroller.  And Trash Cat has its own seat at the dinner table.

PPPS:  I am hoping to give Trash Cat back to the recycle bin before trash pick up on Wednesday.

36 hours of labour...

to produce my first mural baby! We decided to make the "TREADMILL" time more fun... because there is not much to see while being stationary. How fun it would be to walk in our own town! My daughters contributed to the personalized mural, drawing cats, airplanes and hidden images (a cardinal in the tree, ants in the grass, ladybugs, coded addresses, a finish line, a pilot and a shadow of a cat sitting in the window)! We had a lot of fun. But by the end, we were exhausted. There is so much we can still add, but we'll save that for a later date.
